Enhancing Road Safety: The Benefits of TL2+®

Delta TL2+ Intelligent Crash Cushion from TrafFix Devices, Inc.

Why TL2+?: TL2+® has been developed and tested to 50Mp/H not 45Mp/H MASH standards, signifying a fundamental change in engineering and design principles in impact attenuators. TrafFix Devices has developed the first fixed crash cushion that is tested to TL2+®.

Why does that matter? Many of the atrial roads that feed our highways as well as on/off ramps increasingly have speed limits in excess of 45 MPH, the maximum testing speed to attain TL-2 accreditation, meaning that these systems no longer provide the safety coverage for areas signposted at 50Mp/H speed limits.

Enhanced Collision Protection: The Delta TL2+® crash cushion is engineered to absorb impact energy during collisions, thereby minimizing the risk of injuries to motorists and passengers. This enhanced collision protection is a testament to the meticulous design and rigorous testing that these crash cushions undergo, ensuring optimal performance when it matters most.

TrafFix Devices, Inc. Files Patent Infringement Suit Against Lindsay Transportation Solutions, LLC

TrafFix Devices, Inc., a leader in producing innovative road safety products, has filed a patent infringement lawsuit in California against Lindsay Transportation Solutions, LLC.

In the lawsuit, TrafFix Devices alleges that making, selling, or using Lindsay Transportation’s ABSORB-M crash cushion in the United States infringes four patents relating to the innovative design of TrafFix Device’s popular Sentry Longitudinal Energy Dissipater (SLED®) line of crash attenuators. The SLED® crash attenuators are supported by TrafFix Devices significant investment in research and development. All four of the patents asserted in the lawsuit relate to technology for end treatment arrays for crash attenuation.

TrafFix Devices asked the court for an injunction barring sales of Lindsay Transportation’s infringing crash cushions, payment of money damages due to TrafFix Devices lost sales, and to recover its attorney fees for the lawsuit.

Brent Kulp, TrafFix Devices, Inc. President, commented that: “TrafFix Devices is committed to staying on the cutting edge of product innovation, and to protecting the valuable intellectual property that we incorporate into our highway safety products. We will not tolerate infringing copies of our innovative products.”

“TrafFix Devices had no choice but to take legal action to stop Lindsay Transportation’s ongoing and unlawful infringement of TrafFix Device’s patented technology,” said Christy Lea, counsel for TrafFix Devices and litigation partner at Knobbe Martens, a leading Intellectual Property law firm.

TrafFix Devices Prevails in Court

Fisher Phillips said client TrafFix Devices, Inc. won a race discrimination and wrongful termination case in Orange County Superior Court.

Fisher Phillips is a labor and workplace law firm based in Atlanta and with offices in about 30 cities, including Irvine.

San Clemente-based TrafFix makes products to control traffic and reduce the frequency and severity of automobile collisions.

Its ex-employee Barbara Ijeh Egbuta, a Nigerian immigrant — after making an internal complaint and a company investigation — sued for $12 million alleging discrimination based on race and national origin, unlawful retaliation, and wrongful termination.

Fisher Phillips argued that wrongful termination only applies if a complaint is filed in good faith, and that based on Egbuta’s complaint, the company’s investigation and employee interviews, she couldn’t reasonably believe her actions were protected.

The trial began in May and lasted 18 days.

Students from Pacific Coast Christian Homeschool

Today we had the great honor of hosting a group of students from Pacific Coast Christian Homeschool. It all started last year when we got a call from a parent asking if we could host a birthday party for their son, Brody. You see, Brody wants to grow up to become an Engineer and one day work for TrafFix Devices; they said “He is obsessed with your orange drums, cones, and especially the Scorpion.” We were overjoyed that he was so intrigued by our company and what we do that would couldn’t help but host his birthday party. Brody was joined by 9 of his friends where they got to tour of our San Clemente facility and see what really goes into creating highway safety products.

After his party, Brody told all of his friends at school and church what he did for his birthday. He kept talking about it…. for months. Fast-forward to last week when we got another call from the parents who asked if we could host a school field trip for Brody and his classmates. We had such fun hosting his birthday party that we more than happy to show his classmates around.

But this time, we turned it up to 11!

Less than half of US roads are rated “good”

The Gary Stoller article in the July 29 USA Today speaks to a great portion of US roads and bridges which are in desperate need of repair. Stoller says that less than half of all US roads are rated “good.”

Indeed, just 38% of the pavement on roads stretching miles across the USA is in “good” condition, according to the analysis, while about one in 10 of the nation’s bridges are “structurally deficient.”
